OM617 Head Stud Upgrade

The OM617 when tuned or even sometimes in standard form is known for lifting the cylinder head and causing the head gasket to leak. This can be seen by coolant stains down the block just below the head gasket area.

We have created a direct fit high tensile cylinder head stud and nut solution to increase head gasket clamping pressure and maintain that tension under high engine load.

We recommend before fitting a stud kit that you always fully chase and clean the threads in the cylinder block to ensure no fluids or contaminates will prevent the stud from being installed fully down.

Although the studs can be installed without removal of the cylinder head we generally do not advise this. A replacement factory OM617a (turbo engine) cylinder head gasket is what we would advise.
